London Public Library's A Book for Every Child raises funds to provide books to children who may not otherwise have a book to call their own.
This program is designed to reach children who can benefit most. Books are provided to schools where students have experienced lower literacy outcomes, including schools in communities facing higher levels of poverty.
By directing books where they are needed most, A Book for Every Child helps ensure that more children have access to something fundamental to literacy and learning - a book of their very own.
Thanks to our generous donors, last year nearly 7,500 children received a book through this program. Books were distributed through over 40 London area social agencies and schools with low literacy rates. We were unable to fill all requests, which is why we are asking for your help.
How Can You Help?:
-
Make a financial donation at any time of the year! These donations enable Library staff to meet the growing need for multilingual and other specific reading needs and to leverage the Library's discounts with vendors.
-
Consider making a financial donation on behalf of someone special. For example, your child's teacher, birthday presents, or tribute donation.
NOTE: We are no longer able to accept donations of new books for this initiative. Financial donations allow us leverage vendor discounts and to meet the growing need for multilingual and other specific reading needs that help us put the right book at the right time into the hands of children in our community.
