Educators - London Public Library is your partner in learning and literacy

The Library offers special services and resources for educators, teachers and students of all ages and levels. We make it easy to borrow great books for your classroom. Our no-cost Education Programs engage students, and are already linked to the curriculum. We love visiting your classroom and welcoming your class to their neighbourhood library branch, we're here to support you and your students.

Educator Card

With an Educator Card, you can borrow up to 60 items for 6 weeks and place up to 60 holds. We make it easy for you to provide an in-classroom, rotating collection of books for your students to both foster a love of reading and offer supplemental curriculum support.

Professional Development for Educators

Learn how to connect your curriculum to great books through tailored professional development sessions including:

  • The benefits of reading aloud to students up to grade 8. Science of Reading Basics, Science of Reading Games.
  • Curriculum Connections: Find hidden gems to introduce a variety of topics.
  • Picture Book Lessons: Teach writing, science, and engineering across all grades.

Let's Talk About Race

This toolkit is designed to help Educators have open, accurate and constructive conversations about race, racial differences, racial inequity and racism, with their students, in an age-appropriate way. The main objectives are to:

  • Provide users with resources to encourage and facilitate discussions about race/racism
  • Increase children’s exposure to racially (and ethnically) diverse stories and characters
  • Promote positive and accurate learning experiences about human differences and similarities

Class Tours

Bring your class to the Library for a tour so they can learn about all the great, free resources available to them at the Library and how to use them. You can book a tour at most Library locations.

Library Cards For Students

If you would like to arrange Library Cards for your students, please print off forms to distribute to your class. A parent or guardian must sign the application form for children under 16 years. Drop off completed application forms at least one week before your visit so the cards are ready for your students.
