We’re thrilled to share an exciting milestone with you— the construction phase of the Sherwood Branch Library renovation project is officially underway! With support from generous donors, we’re creating a space where our community can come together and find a true sense of belonging.

For nearly 40 years, Sherwood Branch has been at the heart of North West London, welcoming over 36,000 people each year. It’s where children discover the joy of reading, teens come to study and make friends, and families enjoy programs sparking creativity and curiosity. Now, we’re transforming Sherwood into a space that meets the evolving needs of our growing community, while continuing to inspire and connect us all.

When the renovations are complete, you’ll find a brighter, more welcoming Library. We’re opening up the interior to create spaces where you can gather and collaborate. New areas for youth and families will encourage creativity, while our expanded program rooms and meeting spaces will support learning and connection for all ages. We’re also making the Library more energy-efficient and accessible, so everyone feels welcome.

“This renovation is about restoration and opportunity,” says Ward 7 Councillor Corrine Rahman. “It’s about creating a space where families, Library patrons, and staff can come together, engage, and connect. I think about the kids who will develop a love for books here, the students who will study and connect with friends, and the incredible ideas that will bubble up from the conversations that happen in this space. It’s truly inspiring to imagine the future of this branch.”

Mayor Josh Morgan, shared his excitement as well, saying, “The Sherwood branch is my home branch. It’s where I brought my kids to learn to read and where we joined programs as a family. This Library is a hub for youth to meet friends, learn skills, and grow as leaders. The Sherwood renovation will mean so much to this community and beyond.”

We can’t wait to see this vision come to life over the next few months as we create a space that truly reflects the needs and dreams of our community.

During the renovation, we’re making sure you won’t miss out on what you love about Sherwood. In the mean time, our Pop-up Library will offer resources for quick visits until the project wraps up at the end of summer 2025.
