London Public Library is your solar eclipse headquarters. This Tuesday, March 19, a limited number of free solar eclipse viewing glasses will be available to pick up from every library location, while supplies last. Due to high demand and limited quantities, we ask that you only pick up one pair of glasses per person in your family or group. Many thanks to the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, London Chapter for providing the glasses they received, from McMaster University.

Monday, April 8 is the Great North American Eclipse. Here in London, Ontario, we won’t experience a total eclipse - a partial solar eclipse will start at 2pm, with the maximum occurring at 3:17pm and the eclipse ending at 4:30pm. During the partial phase of a solar eclipse, you should ALWAYS use proper eye protection if looking at the sun.

Want to learn more about solar eclipses? Join Peter Jedicke from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, London Chapter for Astronomy Unmasked: Decoding the Solar Eclipse at Central Library on Monday, March 25, from 7-8:30 pm. This is a free event and no registration is required.

If you want to experience the total solar eclipse without leaving London, join us at Central Library on April 8 where we will be streaming the solar eclipse on the big screen!
