Reviving the Landon Studio

A Flexible Space for Teens to Create, Connect, and Thrive

If you’ve ever picked up a Christmas tree in Wortley Village during the holidays, you’ve probably been part of something bigger than you realized. The Old South Community Organization (OSCO)’s annual Christmas Tree Sale isn’t just a seasonal tradition—it’s a fundraiser that directly supports local initiatives, including the Landon Branch Library.

This year, OSCO’s contributions helped breathe new life into a once-forgotten space: the Landon Studio. Tucked away on Landon Branch’s lower level, the Studio was once a lively hub for hands-on creativity with paint, clay and crafts. But like so many other spaces, it became a bit of a storage catch-all during the pandemic. Recognizing its potential, our Landon team envisioned transforming it into something new—a space designed with teens in mind.

Imagine walking into a space that feels like it was made just for you—where you’re free to be yourself. A place to pursue your passions, try something new, or relax with your friends. A welcoming environment where teens can connect, create, and feel at home. That’s the vision our team at Landon brought to life.

With fresh ideas and support from OSCO, we turned the Studio into a makerspace where teens are empowered to create, connect, and thrive. Walk in, and you’ll find a 3D printer humming away, a Cricut machine ready to cut designs, a sewing machine, and even a button maker. Shelves are stocked with art supplies, inviting teens to try something new.

We’re thrilled to activate this space by launching our Teen Drop-In program at Landon this February. Designed to be a flexible and welcoming space, Teen Drop-In is exactly what it sounds like: a space for teens to do whatever they’re into, no pressure attached.

If you want to game with friends, create something cool with the Studio’s tools and supplies, or tackle homework in a laid-back environment, the Studio is here for you. Visit our website to see when these teen drop-in spaces are available.

We’re excited to see how teens make the space their own, building connections and letting their creativity shine. And it all started with a little holiday magic from OSCO, the support of the incredible Old South community, and the dedication of our passionate Landon staff.
