At its meeting on March 21, 2024, the London Public Library Board approved the suspension of Sunday service for at least the remainder of 2024.
The Board’s decision, not reached lightly, is in response to a recommendation presented by management based on short and long-term budget pressures and the Library’s need to find savings in areas where there could be a lesser impact to the community.
Sunday service is considered a value-added Library service. Having several branches open for afternoon service on Sundays during the school year is very much appreciated by the community, but, unfortunately, it is not a service that the Library can afford at this time.
Sunday, March 24 was the last day of Sunday service in 2024.
About Sunday service:
Bostwick, Cherryhill and Masonville Branch Libraries were open on Sundays from 1 until 5pm from October 15 to December 10, 2023 and from January 7 until March 24, 2024. Sunday hours were originally scheduled to continue until May 7, 2024 and to resume in October, 2024.
